Taatusti turvassa – huolehtiva kyläyhteisö
≈ Guaranteed Safe – Caring Village
Guaranteed Safe -project focuses on safety in everyday life of villages in the countryside. In this project safety means a feeling of safety in every aspect of daily life. It is part of wellbeing and quality of services.
The assumption in Guaranteed Safe -project is that the most important task of villages is to promote wellbeing and safety of its people. The key idea is to develop a village’s safety plan where villages have a bigger role of developing new operational models to organize services in their own villages. For example, one important question is how the elderly people could live at home as long as they want. What kind of services they need and how the services can be produced? As a result of village’s safety plan the voice of villages will be better heard at the municipal as well as regional levels.
The project operates in two regions in Northern Finland, in Lapland and in Koillismaa. Both regions are very similar. They are sparsely populated (approx. two people per km²) rural areas. The distances are long and the villages are small. Services are disappearing into the bigger centers and the population is getting older.
The finance of Guaranteed Safe -project is based on Rural Development Programme for Mainland Finland. The finance is 100 % public: the EU funds 50 % and the other 50 % comes from the state.
The administrator of the project is Northern Finland Centre of Excellence on Social Welfare (Pohjois-Suomen sosiaalialan osaamiskeskus).
There are three employees working in the project.
